Ideas to help you decompress, one hour or less.

When we “go go go” we deplete not just our energy but our ability to calm down, keeping us in a constant state of fight or flight. Especially individuals with very stressful careers. I am speaking to lawyers, doctors, business owners, and anyone that is under the constant expectations and demands of clients, customers and patients. These are ideas to help you decompress and bounce back into a calm and grateful mindset.

    • Take a thirty (30) minute walk in nature.

    • Meditate for ten (10) or twenty (20) minutes – download a free app like Insight Timer.

    • Read (for fun) for thirty (30) minutes.

    • Create a happiness playlist: compile your top 10, 15 or even 20 songs into a folder that always make you smile and feel alive.

    • Color, draw, paint – anything that taps into your creative side (no one said it has to be good).

    • Dance – dance to your favorite songs, not only is it exercise, it will raise your happiness hormone (cortisol).

    • Laughter bombs – create a folder in your favorite social media platform to collect silly videos or memes that make you laugh until you cry (good cry, of course).

    • Pictures – again, make a folder on your cell phone, laptop or iPad and put pictures of all that things that matter to you… i.e. your parents, your kids, favorite vacation pics. Think of it a highlight real of the things that matter the most to YOU.
